Hi! I am Ram Soni, a Sanjhi artist. I was born on 8th October 1972 in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Sanjhi is our traditional art. My family has been doing this artwork for 350 years. I have learned this art from my father and grandfather. I currently reside in Alwar, Rajasthan, and make all kinds of spiritual artwork, which are mostly related to Lord Krishna’s life. I am more interested in doing innovative interior work.
I have demonstrated my work in many exhibitions in India as well as abroad. In India, I have exhibited my work in Surajkund International Crafts Mela (Haryana), Nature Bazaar and Dilli Haat (New Delhi), Patna Book Fair, Crafts Council of Tamil Nadu, Crafts Museum in New Delhi, etc.
Abroad, I have participated in exhibitions in Indian Heritage Centre (Singapore), China Guangzhou Exhibition, Nehru Centre (London), Festival of India in Nepal, Argentina and Switzerland.
I have participated in various workshops in New Delhi like British Council Workshop, National Bal Bhavan Workshop, Aga Khan Foundation Workshop, etc. Apart from this, I am doing regular workshops in Shilpgram – Udaipur, SPIC MACAY – IIT Delhi, SPIC MACAY – IIT Guwahati, SPIC MACAY – IIT Kharagpur, etc. I have also organized workshops in countries like Australia, London, New Zealand, etc.
I am also teaching this art to those students who are interested in learning about it. So far, I have trained more than a thousand students. Many of them are now working in government sectors.
