Metal Bells Made by an Artisan from Kutch, Gujarat
Personal Details
Hi! I am a metal bells artisan/manufacturer. My father is also an experienced artisan.
Metal Bells Crafting Skills
Bell making is our ancestral art. My father, grandfather, and great-grandfather also used to make metal bells. I learned this craft from my father.
Metal Bells Craft Process
First of all, I bring iron sheets from the market. I use my hands and some basic tools to shape them into bells. Then copper powder and borax powder are applied to the bells. Next, wet soil mixed with cotton is applied to them. The bells are heated in the furnace for a period depending on the size. When the powder melts, copper-coated bells are obtained.
Benefits
The sound of bells is very beneficial for the human mind because it removes negative thoughts and increases the concentration level of the human mind. This sound also awakens the feelings of devotion in humans.
Specialization
My expertise is in making bells of any shape and size.
Experience in Making Metal Bells
I have 17 to 18 years of experience in this field. I have also trained my family members in this craft.
Participation in Exhibitions
I have participated in various exhibitions organized by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) in Delhi, Jaipur, and Chandigarh. I have also participated in the Dastkari Mela.
Future Plans
In the future, I would like to sell my products abroad also.
