Hi! I am Pratibha Jha, a Madhubani painting artist. My father’s name is Shri Devendra Kumar Jha, and he has received National Award in Madhubani painting. My mother’s name is Smt. Renu Devi and she has also received a state award in Madhubani art. We are originally from Jitwarpur village in Bihar.
I learned Madhubani art from my father and mother. I have also undergone 4 months of training in the Guru Shishya Parampara workshop organized by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts).
I make Madhubani paintings on both paper and cloth. I use natural colors on paper and cotton fabrics. For other fabrics, I use acrylic colors. I make paintings using brushes, nibs, and bamboo twigs.
I can make Madhubani paintings in all three styles like Kachni, Godhana, and Bharni and I specialize in making natural things like birds, peacocks, elephants, etc.
I learned to make Madhubani paintings from my parents since childhood and I have also started selling my products in the last four years.
Participation in Exhibitions
I participated in many exhibitions held at Dilli Haat, Delhi.
Training Programmes Conducted
I have trained 45 to 50 students so far.
In the future, I want more and more people to make a career in this art. I also want to earn some awards for my work.
