Hi! I am Kavita Karn, a hand-painting artist. I am a graduate in Arts.
My mother Shrimati Kashi Devi was an expert in Madhubani painting. I learned to make Madhubani paintings from her. Gradually hand-painting became my hobby, and I started trying other types of painting as well. After getting married, I shifted to Jharkhand and here I started making hand-painted products for sale. Later this became my full-time job.
I also attended a workshop in Madhubani in 2012 to improve my skills.
I do hand painting on a wide variety of products like dupattas, stoles, kurtis, wooden boxes, trays, etc. For clothes, I use fabric colors and for Madhubani paintings, I use natural colors.
I specialize in Madhubani painting.
I have about 23 to 24 years of experience so far.
Participation in Exhibitions
I have participated in various exhibitions held in India such as Gandhi Shilp Bazaar in Kerala, India International Trade Fair in Delhi, Surajkund International Crafts Mela in Haryana, Aajeevika Mela in New Delhi, etc.
I have not received any award, but I am sure that I will be awarded the state award very soon.
Training Programmes Conducted
I am running a self-help group called Vishnu Mahila Mandal in Jharkhand. It consists of 15 women whom I have trained. Currently, most of these women are self-dependent and are supporting their families financially.
I want to showcase my craft in international exhibitions.
