Cotton, Beads & Silk Thread Oxidized Jewellery by Artisan Hema Rathod from Maharashtra, India
Hi, I am Hema Rathod, a cotton and silk thread jewellery artist. I was born in Mumbai and have done a course in interior designing.
Jewellery Making Skills
I have been a creative person since childhood. I made various crafts, but I loved making jewellery the most. Gradually, it became my hobby to make jewellery. I started making and selling handmade jewellery commercially in 2018.
Jewellery Making Process
I use silk thread, cotton thread, fabric, various types of beads such as metal, glass, kori, oxidized pendants and chains to make handcrafted jewellery. I get all these raw materials from local markets in Mumbai. I make bangles, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, etc. using all these raw materials.
My expertise is in making silk thread bangles.
I have 2 years of experience in this field.
Participation in Exhibitions
I have participated in some private exhibitions like “Utsav” and “Paridhan” held in Mumbai.
Training Programmes Conducted
I am associated with an NGO called AngelXpress Foundation. There I have taught the art of jewellery making to many slum area children.
In the future I want my business to grow more so that I can donate a good part of my profits to needy people.
