Personal Details
Hi! I am a blue pottery artisan/manufacturer. My father was also a pottery artisan.
Blue Pottery Crafting Skills
Pottery is our ancestral art, and I learned it from my uncle and father. I also attended a workshop of 6 to 7 days under RUDA to improve my skills.
Blue Pottery Craft Process
I use glass powder, quartz powder, multani mitti, and gum as raw materials to make pottery. I create designs on them using oxide colors and brushes. Arabic patterns, animal and bird motifs from the Mughal period are commonly used in blue pottery. I make plates, bowls, vases, diyas, etc.
Specialization
My expertise is in making any type of design ordered by the customer.
Experience
I have 33 years of experience in this field.
Participation in Exhibitions
I have participated in many exhibitions organized by Dastkar and Dastkari Haat Samiti in various cities of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Allahabad, Calcutta, etc. I have also participated in exhibitions organized by Development Commissioner for Handicrafts (DCH).
Training Programmes Conducted
So far I have trained 25 to 30 people, and some of them are still working with me.
Future Plans
I want my future generations to learn this craft and also learn different means of selling our craft.
