Hi! I am Amir Khatri, an Ajrakh hand block printing artist. My father’s name is Jusab Khatri and he is also an ajrakh hand block printing artist.

Crafting Skills

Ajrakh hand block printing is my ancestral art and I learned it from my father.

Craft Process

I do ajrakh hand block printing using natural colors on cotton, silk, and organic fabrics. I use self-made wooden blocks and brass blocks for printing. I have 8 members who work with me.

I specialize in making sarees and fabrics.

Experience

I have 8 years of experience in this field.

Participation in Exhibitions

I have participated in many exhibitions under the Dastkari Haat Samiti held in Delhi. I have also participated in Dilli Haat and Nature Bazaar in New Delhi and Ahmedabad Haat in Gujarat.

Training Programmes Conducted

I have trained around 20-25 students and some of them were from NIFT Gandhinagar. I have also taught some foreign tourists the process of doing ajrakh hand block printing.

Future Plans

In the future, I would like to export my products. I want to display my products in foreign lands and want the whole world to know about ajrakh hand block printing.
